The M. Read Story

M. Read Bookkeeping was founded in 2003 following the birth of my second daughter. At that time, I was working at a Chartered Accountant firm but struggling to live fully and achieve my ideal work-life balance. With much thought, I took a leap of faith and left my public practice career of 15 years to begin my own bookkeeping and software training business. Wow! Without a doubt that was one my best career decisions. I immediately took control of my life, taking time to be with my family while building my own business.

As did my daughters, my business grew quickly. I received many humbling referrals and made strategic decisions to capitalize on some great opportunities. As my client base grew, I could not perform all the work myself, so I began building a professional team with similar values and skills. Today, empowering women by hiring and leading other hard-working women, is at the forefront of my business philosophies. And, like years ago, when I decided to prioritize my work-life balance, I now lead my team members to work towards their ideal work-life balance.

In 2014 I moved the business out of my home to our current office location in downtown Moose Jaw. Together, my team has made this space feel like a home where we welcome the clients we serve.

We provide services that relieve our customers of the record keeping tasks and deadlines so they can focus on their strengths and the business goals in their own operations. We love to work with clients who are invested in their business and use the financial information we provide to assist them in making well informed business decisions and achieve their goals.

Our Team

Lacey

Lacey has over 20 years experience in the accounting industry. She specializes in record keeping for small and medium sized business. She embraces technology and enjoys implementing innovative ways to help our clients succeed.

Janet

Janet is our small business expert. She is proficient in her work and ensures her tasks are completed well before the deadline.

Rylan

Rylan is a natural leader on our agriculture team. She works diligently and quietly providing full cycle accounting services and ensuring her clients are taken care of.

Kristi

Kristi is a welcome addition to our agriculture team. Kristi is actively involved in her own family farm and brings tremendous agriculture knowledge to our office which is so beneficial in an ever changing industry.

Joya

Joya is the smiling face at our front desk and the cheerful voice you hear when you call our office. Joya’s specialty is providing payroll services to our clients and support to the small business team.
